I hear all the time from clients that one of their biggest frustrations is feeling like nobody is seeing their posts. You judge your post reach by how many likes and comments you get on your posts.
I know for a fact that more people SEE your posts than you realize, without commenting on them. There are many reasons why someone might not stop their scroll to “Like” or “comment” and most of the time it’s really nothing personal, they just didn’t do it.
How do you know if your message is reaching the people you want it to? With the always changing algorithms Facebook and Instagram use, you need a SMBA (Social Masters Business Analysis) degree. I just made that up.
But seriously, it takes for-freakin-ever to keep up with the trends.
So how do you beat Facebook & IG’s tactics? You get your own website.
On no Jill! This isn’t 2005 anymore! NOBODY uses their own websites.
Well that’s not true. Actually, everyone who is anyone has a personal website.
Check out this list (at the end of this newsletter) of celebrities, musicians, pro athletes, authors and even podcasters. I’m putting it at the end so you’ll keep reading here. I don’t want you to wander off *just yet*
What is the point of having your own website? Doesn’t Facebook and all of those other platforms work good enough?
Sure, but here’s the thing. You’re at the whim of those services. Meaning, if they get a bug up their butt and decide you’ve breached one of the gazillion terms of service, they can *POOF* your account.
You no longer have a place on the internet.
All of your contacts are gone.
You can start over, but, that’s like, starting over.
So why not have a back up plan? A website where you put your content front and center for your people to see. A place where, if someone Googles you, they can find you at YOURNAME.com
When you have something like I do, JillRumley.com all I have to do is give you my name and you can find me.
I can hear you now, you think websites are complicated and expensive. They’re not. Actually, they can be basically free. There are a lot of ways to get a *free* website, all you have to do is pay for your domain name (that’s the part after the www) which costs around $20 a YEAR.
Curious? Want to hear more about how you can get a free website? Schedule a free 15 minute call with me! I’ll share all of my juicy secrets with you.
